"Leaves and Stories of Other Times" is born from the perspective of an ivy that grows on the side of a building. The ivy is always there, regardless of whom is living in the building. She has seen them move in, unravel, and then move out. She observes the roller coaster of the human experience and its endless narratives. Some of these narratives are more intense than others, and although in time they all pass, intentions linger. The ivy remains intact, like an ever-present guardian, naked through the loneliness of winter, and luscious under the warmth of a summer day. She is the keeper of the present for whomever stops to admire it. She gifts breaths of fresh air to weary travelers, and inspiration and freedom to the pondering mind.

This is reflected in the composition through its various sections. Different stories are captured through the contrasting sections of the piece, each building tension that resolves into the next one.
