Mab
label: Variant Electronic
Variant are delighted to bring one of the founders of the Parisian label MASSE, Mab, with his distinct acid/rave/hard techno sound, this EP has been months in the making, we have had our eye on Mab for the past two years, it has all culminated in this massive EP with four of his signature hard as nails tracks. Four superb standalone tracks, compiled onto a massive EP, Bitter delivers.
The EP kicks off with A Bitter Pill, this 140 bpm banger takes you on a journey into the darkest depths a true floor filler, like the entire EP. Dark synths, deep drones and a hammering kick that never lets up, A Bitter Pill to swallow, but worth it for the floor. Second up is About Nothing, acid rave, really driving synth sounds, an acid line to kill for, nothing about this track is done in half measures, well thought out breaks and smashing drops, with a provocative hard acid sound.
Keeping a drop of acid for Laments, a more spacious sound, with a lot of variety, a very clever combination of acid, rave and hard techno that works so well, with some precise and crazy drops, with epic perc progression throughout, truly wonderful track.
Last but most certainly not least, we have Redundant System, back up to 140 to finish it, this track is remnant of 90's European techno, with a distinct modern Mab-centric twist on the genre, some epic pads add atmosphere, the main synth-line is basement dwelling rave line that will send clubbers into a guaranteed frenzy. Mab really provided something special, and with variety to kill for, we are delighted to present it as our 39th release.
