Sergio Vilas
label: Love To Love Records
Sergio Vilas is another pseudonym for this techno producer. He has previously produced under Kube
72 and D00sh. Under Kube 72 he toured Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and America and had
numerous releases, one of which Carl Cox signed for the Space 2010 CD.
Kube 72 has been a DJ since 1996 and has played alongside artists like Carl Cox, Dave Clarke, DJ Rush,
Technasia, Joris Voorn, Green Velvet and many more. He has performed at clubs like Tresor (Berlin),
Turnmills (London), Waegenburg (Hamburg), Club Grant (Poland) and at Festivals like Glastonbury
(UK), Summer Spirit (Germany) & The Love Weekend (Berlin). He mastered his skills as a techno DJ
not just on two but three decks and has had a residency in Dresden at the Triebwerk Club for the
past 8 years. He had his first release on Tekkxp Records and since then has had his own productions
supported by the likes of Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier to name but a few. Since then he has
appeared on Subsensory Recordings, Teggno Records, Stripped and many more.
Under D00sh he has had his tracks played from Colin Dale to Nick Warren and has played at London’s
famous Ministry Of Sound. However it’s Sergio Vilas that has taken over the producing duties and
since being signed to Subsensory has allowed him to produce the old style techno that manages to
include the techno sound of today, blending and bending the rules to make the sound he wants to. It
is through this success that has helped him get continued support from Carl Cox, SLAM, Bryant Zentz,
Adam Jay, Claude Young, Colin Dale and many others.
Through Subsensory Sergio has really been able to push the sound he wants to create. With the
success of five EP’s already since 2013, Sergio then released his first album on the Subsensory label
called Route 94. This album was supported by Carl Cox, Colin Dale etc and featured heavily in Carl
Cox’s sets and on his Global Radio show. Beatport also named it as their number one picked by the
staff and played on BBC6 Music for the run up to Record Store Day 2018.
Route 94 is a blend of techno that not only takes a elements of the past but from the influences of
today’s techno routes. From Chicago to Detroit, London to Berlin Route 94 delivers the sound that so
many have come to know of Sergio but with a few surprises.
Universal Child is the latest album from Sergio and spans ten tracks of his influences and different
musical styles. Detroit Day is a thumping nod to the 909 and Detroit vibes influenced by Joey
Beltram, Carl Cox thought so too as he played it at Brunch In – Barcelona and Ultra Miami in 2019!
Universal Child is the title track and is a throbbing bass driver with some smart hooks alone the way.
Featured in Beatport’s Hype chart it was another great album for Sergio.
In 2018 he released a vinyl only Record Store Day EP which featured his best-selling track to date
called Rebate. Heavily played by Carl Cox at various locations like Ultra Festival and Awakenings, this
EP was an exclusive press of only 500 and featured an exclusive remix by label boss DJ Jak which
again featured on various radio stations like Jaguar’s show on Reprezents Radio, London.
He continues to push himself in his productions and always delivers something slightly different. He
also has his own radio show called Section 63 on 808 Studio and has recently done a mix for
Sanctorum and Warm FM in Belguim. With releases penned for USUK, Ibiza Boys, Subsensory and
Subspec he’s already making 2019 another great year for his music.
