On the 17th Of March Ampispazi Recordings delivers another outstanding EP: Alpha Function's debut EP, with remixes from label head Mik Santoro and Ampispazi's usual suspect Ramsi.
Berlin's Ampispazi has delivered almost 70 records in the past 3-4 years, showcasing a unique approach to discovering talents coming from the deepest shades of electronic music. With releases from the likes of Ercos Blanka, C0A, Mess Me and Ramsi, Mik Santoro's imprint now presents another impressive original EP, coming from unknown and mysterious producer Alpha Function. 'Il. Legacy EP' includes 2 original tracks from the new talent and 2 remixes coming from One Million Circuit's Ramsi and label head Mik Santoro.
The Ep opens with the title track, a real dance floor killer which Locked Groove or Mind Against' fans will really dig. The cut starts with a straight solemn Kick and wobbly toms patterns fused with dreamy synth notes which slowly brings a warm melancholic pad to life along with a deep bass-line; the relentless ride's groove drives the track while the opening synth melodies becomes a rhythmical hook and slowly evolves until it merges with the pad in a short but effective break before dropping back. The second cut of the EP is the other original, 'Discordia', another powerful late night cut. From the beginning we can find the same effective mix of toms and kick of 'Il.Legacy' this time fused with a more Raw House oriented pad melody, while rolling background reverberated and delayed percussion patterns follow the continuing crescendo of the pad.
The third track of the EP is Ramsi's remix of the title track. The producer takes a completely different approach from the original version and cleverly uses the synth melody to create an early morning - after party tune. The whole cut is permeated with a moody vibe, almost like a sweet lullaby, while underneath the straight 4/4 kick a wobbly bass-line pulses. 'Il.Legacy EP' closes with label honcho Mik Santoro's remix of 'Discordia': the track showcases his usual dance floor oriented approach, with House grooves alongside timeless pad melodies. Ampispazi's head also adds a new female voice which works perfectly on the tracks' first soulful break.
