"I wanted to finally express how I truly felt about this girl in the midst of our close friendship. People always thought there was more to us that wasn't being said so I started writing a song about her as a confession to how I feel about us. We've always been so close but I think we held back from revealing other thoughts on our connection. A lot of the R&B [I do] is genuinely based off women that come into my life and inspire me to speak to them in my music.
